This one is a little tough to ferret out. In the past it would seem that Head Coach Andy Reid had the final say on personnel matters. In the past two years or so I think we have seen that change a little. I still believe that Reid has a great deal of say but General Manger Howie Roseman and President Joe Banner have more say than past Eagles executives. This may come from the struggles the Eagles have had in the draft especially in the years 2006-2008.
Overall the team did very well in the 2010 NFL draft. They made 13 picks one year ago and 12 of them are still with the team. Over the past five years they have made 47 picks in the draft. Since only 28 of them are still with the team, only one has made the pro bowl, and only 10 are starters we can definitely argue that this team has struggled a bit on draft day.
So we do know Reid like to use the best player available strategy, but he definitely has a bias in the early rounds towards defense lineman and defensive backs. He is unafraid to use high picks on guys from smaller programs, but will take a big school guy if he feels he is the best available. He will move up to get a guy he covets, but also likes to move down and stockpile picks.
