Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) has slammed President Donald Trump for rising hamburger prices on National Hamburger Day.

Every year, Americans celebrate National Hamburger Day on May 28. However, this time around, Sen. Warren did not appear to be in a celebratory mood. The reason? Rising costs of produce, including burger ingredients.

On Thursday, Sen. Warren took to X and blamed Trump for the increasing prices, claiming that the POTUS “ruins everything.”

“Beef? Buns? Pickles? Everything costs more this year,” Warren began her X post. She then added, “But when asked, Donald Trump doesn’t ‘think about Americans’ financial situation.” Donald Trump ruins everything. Even National Hamburger Day,” the senator fumed on the social media platform.

She also added a graphic that contained an illustration of a burger and the respective costs of each ingredient, reportedly sourced from The Century Foundation and Groundwork Collaborative.

“Trump is making National Burger Day more expensive,” the illustration mentioned, adding, “costs are up compared to one year ago.”

According to the graphic, the price of tomatoes has gone up 22%, and the cost of ground beef has increased by 20%.

The cost of buns, the illustration mentioned, has gone up by 4 percent, whereas the prices of pickles, mustard, lettuce, and ketchup have surged by 12%, 1%, 19%, and 14%, respectively.

Warren’s critique of Trump over rising grocery costs did not appear to convince most social media users. Many Trump supporters stated that prices were higher during former President Joe Biden’s administration.

“Silly desperate woman grabbing at straws. It must suck to be a Democrat,” wrote one user.

“You and Biden had an inflation rate that is more than double Trump’s,” a second user’s tweet said. “All we got from your prolific spending was billions of losses through fraud. At least with the inflation we are destroying the weapons of mass destruction Iran was promising to use on us.”

“Everything cost more during the Biden admin. Where were you then??” a third person asked.

“If one can’t afford a fng burger, they’ve got bigger problems in life than Trump,” yet another user wrote.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, President Trump claimed that he was “making food affordable.” He posted a graphic on Truth Social that claimed he was helping bring down food costs. The graphic highlighted several grocery items that it said had become cheaper, including avocados down 19 percent, eggs down 90%, olive oil down 16%, and chicken breast down 2.4%.

The figures were allegedly based on data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Economic Research Service, along with Circana Retail Scanner Data.

Inquisitr has not independently verified the figures mentioned either by Warren or by Trump in their respective posts.

But data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ latest Consumer Price Index report for April showed that the overall food-at-home prices increased 2.9% over the previous 12 months. Certain products saw much sharper jumps, including tomatoes up 39.7%, and coffee, which rose 18.5%. Ground beef has surged 14.5%, and the cost of fresh vegetables has gone up by 11.5 %.

Lately, rising living costs in the U.S., including the increase in grocery prices, housing, gas, and affordability rates, have become a major talking point amongst Trump supporters and critics alike. This has also led his approval ratings to plummet ahead of the midterm elections in November, with many blaming Trump for price surges.
