A Detroit man, Michael A. Hicks, could face 10 years in prison after being charged with damaging government property by frequently urinating in a freight elevator.
Hicks, an IRS contract employee, was named Tuesday, May 27 in a U.S. district court complaint charging him with urinating in the freight elevator of an Internal Revenue Service building in Detroit. After suspecting something strange was going on in the elevator, agents installed video cameras and caught Hicks on film.
The IRS has had to fork over more than $4,600 in deep cleaning fees to clean the elevator and the area underneath it. Hicks could face up to a maximum of 10 years in prison for damaging government property if found guilty.
