Judge Boyd called out an irresponsible 24-year-old father in the Bexar County, Texas, court who was responsible for the death of his premature newborn. According to the documents, he was playing video games in the bathroom when he was supposed to take care of the baby.

She repeatedly challenges his statements, such as his claim that he did not leave the baby unattended, by citing police reports that mention a video game setup in the bathroom. The father was still defending himself and not taking responsibility for his actions.

He denied playing the video game or even putting the baby face down, which had led to his death. He added, “I mean, I did check, but you know, when babies are asleep, they sleep. That’s what I thought. My, you know, I raised my daughters.”

The judge also noted the apartment was dirty, infected with cockroaches, and had standing water in the sink. She asked him why the apartment was in that condition. He replied, “I do clean, but I don’t, you know, I don’t clean as much as I’m supposed to.”

She slammed both parents for bringing a premature newborn into such an environment. CPS was involved; however, the case had been closed. The judge was shocked to learn about this, as the baby’s death could have been prevented.

The father also gave some contradictory statements. He claimed he had no family in the town, while his mother was present the whole time. Boyd did not like his casual attitude even after the death of his son. She gave him the maximum possible sentence, which was part of his plea deal.

She sentenced him to 180 days in prison without crediting the pre-trial incarceration and 8 years of probation. As a convicted felon, the court prohibited him from owning any weapons and required him to provide proof of employment after serving jail time for his crime.

He also had to do 100 hours of community service and parenting classes. Apart from no contact with minors, the accused is not supposed to meet the mother. The judge called them unfit to be parents.

The courtroom video has almost 5K views. Many viewers were not satisfied with the verdict despite Boyd imposing maximum sentencing. They had hoped for a longer prison time for him. “Killed his kid and got 180 days,” posted a viewer. Another one pointed out, “Why accept the plea if he is going against the stipulations?”

One more disappointed viewer posted, “The baby’s life was worth nothing to the judge this time.” “A grown man should not be playing video games. GROW UP!” commented another one.
