Ambulance Explodes On Rhode Island [Video]

A private ambulance in Rhode Island caught on fire and then exploded on Wednesday afternoon, no injuries or deaths were reported.

According to the Bladensburg Volunteer Fire Department a fire engine and seven firefighters arrived on the scene at 38th Street and Rhode Island Avenue at 2:30 p.m. and had the fire extinguished in 10 minutes.

No one was inside the ambulance at the time and firefighters and ambulance owner LifeStar Corp., are still unsure what caused the explosion.

According to Mount Rainier Post Office Mike David smoke began pouring out of the ambulances windows and by the time he picked up the phone to call 911 the ambulance had already exploded.

An investigation into the cause of the explosion is underway and at this time LifeStar and the Fire Department have not released any information.
