Meet Kelly Kellerman, possibly the luckiest amateur actor in America, who was shot in the head during a rehearsal Monday.
81-year-old Kellerman was playing the role of Lenny in the final rehearsal of the Sarasota Senior Theater’s production of Of Mice and Men, when they got to a scene where where a shot was required, and that’s where things went wrong.
Co-star Bill Bordy pulled the trigger on what we thought to be a prop gun, and at first thought the gun’s loud bang was a special effect.
But it wasn’t. Instead it was a real gun, and it was loaded.
Thankfully Bordy wasn’t a great shot, and Kellerman was rushed to hospital with only a grazed skull, and a cut above his left ear.
The rehearsal was also filmed, although local TV didn’t show the moment the gun was fired, but showed the point leading up to the accident. Here’s 10Connect’s footage:
