$4 Trillion Balance Shows Up In Arkansas Woman’s Account, Here Are The Details

Molly Layes of Fort Smith, Arkansas, was the world’s only trillionaire this week after she woke up to find $4 trillion in her bank account.

Layes, a customer of BancorpSouth, was the lucky recipient of a computer system glitch which showed the deposited sum of $4,040,404,040,404.04

That made her more wealth than Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, Mark Zuckerberg, and the entire Walmart family combined, and by a large margin..

Immediately after realizing she could buy a few nations with her massive wealth Molly alerted her local branch manager.

While the money wasn’t hers to keep, Molly still had a good sense of humor about it, telling the Times Record:

“I guess I thought either it’s my lucky day, or somebody is going to be in a lot of trouble. Then I realized how large of an amount it was and figured it was just a big error on their part. But it was nice to know that for just a little bit I was a trillionare, sort of.”

In a statement released after the trillion dollar bank error was discovered BancorpSouth proclaimed:

“BancorpSouth online banking customers’ deposit account balances reflected overstated balance totals for a short period of time this morning before being corrected. This was a system display issue and did not reflect the actual account balance available to those customers.”

Okay maybe she couldn’t actually take out the money but who else has ever seen their bank account with more than $1 trillion?

BancorpSouth would have been deep in a hole considering it only accounts for $13.2 billion in assets throughout its 292 locations.

Do you think banking systems which continually report these types of glitches are modern enough to stop today’s increasing cyber-attacks?
