Thursday Night Football Preview: Desperate 49ers Hope To Rebound Against Rams

The hapless San Francisco 49ers will look to rebound their season against the Rams on Thursday Night Football in St. Louis.

The Thursday Night Football matchup features a battle of 1-2 teams who entered the season with hopes to compete.

The San Francisco 49ers were supposed to make a repeat Super Bowl appearance. All the pieces were returning, and Colin Kaepernick would be more explosive with the addition of Anquan Boldin. After an impressive week one win against the Packers, San Francisco flatlined. They’ve been blown out two consecutive games, and now face a Rams team they couldn’t beat in 2012.

The St. Louis Rams were hoping Sam Bradford would finally hit the next level and bring back the Rams winning ways. Bradford has been good, but not great, and the Rams defense has been anything but stalwart. St. Louis enters Thursday night coming off a 31-7 beatdown by the Dallas Cowboys.

The good news? One of these teams will improve their record to 2-2 on Thursday Night Football. Which one is anyone’s guess.

The 49ers still have to be the favorite to win the matchup, even though their play has been anything but inspiring recently. Colin Kaepernick has been so bad, he’s been favoriting Twitter hate to help light a fire under his butt!

The St. Louis Rams might be the safer bet to win. Last season they beat the 49ers once, and tied them once. San Francisco went to the Super Bowl while the Rams ended the season at 7-9. This is a team that knows how to play San Francisco, and is playing better football right now.

If I had to make a prediction for Thursday Night Football, my choice would be the San Francisco 49ers. They should be playing angry, and the short week should help their mindset. This game is more than just a division rivalry for the red and gold, it’s a chance to prove the last two weeks were flukes for one of the league’s best teams.
