Japanese man discovers woman living in closet for almost one year

Here is another one of those “only in Japan” stories. A man living in Fukuoka discovered a woman living in a closet of his house. Apparently he had noticed food going missing and set up surveillance cameras to try to capture the suspected burglar.

He contacted police and after an extensive search of the house, they found a woman living in the closet. She had lived there for almost a year and told police she had nowhere else to live.

The woman had laid out a thin futon and had several plastic drinks bottles, police said. There was just enough room for her to lay down.
