Jilted Dad Blows Up House After Family Picnic Snub

For some people, it doesn’t take much. For 69-year-old Polish man Czeslaw Kaminski, all it took was a simple not from his wife saying that she had taken the children out for a picnic. Presumably heartbroken, he decided the best way to get “revenge” on them for lunching without him was to blow up his own house.

UK news website Orange Newsreports that Kaminski awoke from his sleep to find a note written by his wife. In it, she explained that she had taken the kids for the day to a picnic. Without him.

This note apparently enraged Kaminski, and he decided to light a fire in the basement of his home and throwing two gas cylinders on top of the house in the village of Chechlo Drugie, near Lodz.

Unfortunately, Kaminski didn’t manage to escape in time and was caught in the explosion that completely destroyed his house.

He was taken to a hospital by air ambulance. Though he survived the blast, his condition was described as critical, with hospital spokesman Bozena Kozanecka saying that he was in a coma in intensive care.

Kaminski’s wife, Grazyna, said that she didn’t know what could have possibly set her husband off and that, when he called and threatened her, she didn’t take him seriously.

“He called me on the mobile home and demanded that I go home, but when I refused he said he was going to get revenge. I did not take him seriously and then I returned home to find this.”

Neighbors told local media outlets that the couple’s relationship was somewhat troubled and that they fought often.

Though the family picnic sans-dad might have been the straw that broke the camel’s back for Czeslaw Kaminski, blowing up his house may have been a tad dramatic. Still, here’s hoping for a speedy recovery for the jilted dad.
