5 Dead In Illinois Shooting [Breaking]


An Illinois shooting has left five people dead and part of the Village of Manchester, Illinois on lockdown Mayor Ronald Drake confirmed this morning.

The Manchester, Illinois shooting occurred in a public housing complex on 4th Street in the tiny town of less than 400 people. Drake was asked about a possible motive for the shooting, and said that he had yet to hear of the situation’s specifics.

The Mayor added when asked if the motive had been discerned in the Illinois shooting:

“Not that I know of. This is a nice little town and I have no problems with anybody. What took place, I cannot tell you.”

The five dead in Manchester have not yet been publicly identified, but it is reported that a suspect is in custody following a police chase after the early morning incident. The man apprehended by police after being pursued was captured in a neighboring town about 12 miles away.

After the Illinois shooting, a local news source indicates that several schools enacted safety precautions:

Multiple schools are on lockdown. The Jacksonville School District 117 secretary to Superintendent Steve Ptacek said the school is closed in response to a recent shootout with a suspect on Woodson Winchester Road. North Greene Unit School District #3 is closed and WLDS Radio reports Winchester schools are closed.

After the Manchester shooting, an injured child was taken to a Springfield, Illinois hospital and treated, the Scott County Sheriff’s Department confirms. The condition of the child and his or her possible relationship with the suspected shooter or victims was not elaborated upon.

The suspected shooter has also not been publicly identified, nor has any connection to the victims been revealed.
