Record Blizzards In New York Costing City $1 Million Per Inch

Mayor Bloomberg recently released a statement stating that the record snow fall in New York City has become quite the expensive occurrence for the metropolitan area, costing up to $1 million per inch.

Those numbers take into account the cost of employing 4200 workers charged with removing the snow and for fueling and maintaining 1600 plows owned and operated by the city.

Given the amount of snow that has fallen just in the month of February, the city could end up spending upwards of $30 million or more on snow removal during the shortest month of the year. While the cost of lost business and wages could push the cost of the storm much higher.
