Kanye West Concert Rant Was Not About Drake; Who Was The Rapper Going Off On?

Kanye West went on an angry rant during his concert this past weekend about other rappers copying his style. After indications that the outburst was targeted at Drake, but sources claim “that rant wasn’t about Drake.” So who has Kanye West so riled up?

Insiders close to Kanye West told TMZ that the rapper’s angry rant had nothing to do with Drake and that Yeezy has the utmost respect for him.

The call-out was to all the younger guys coming up in the rap world who Kanye feels rip him off, it wasn’t directed at one specific rapper.

Kanye was pumping up the crowd by getting angry and going off on these so-called “copiers.”

Kanye has nothing to worry about, the up and coming rappers can’t beat his number one song at the moment. West’s song “Father Stretch My Hands” off of Life of Pablo just hit No. 1 on Urban Radio.

Kanye West is infamously known for his angry, outspoken rants. This outburst was rather reserved, compared to some of his fits in the past.

In 2005, Kanye West shocked people when he went off script during a live benefit concert for Hurricane Katrina on NBC, according to ET Online.

“George Bush doesn’t care about black people.”

Producers quickly cut away. He later apologized for his remark.

One year later, Kanye West crashed the stage at the MTV Europe Music Awards to argue that he should have won an award for “Touch The Sky.”

But perhaps Kanye West’s most famous rant was at the MTV Music Awards in 2009, when Taylor Swift won Best Female Video for “You Belong With Me.” West jumped up on stage once again and proclaimed that Beyonce’s “Single Ladies” was “one of the best music videos of all time.”

Swift has said that Kanye West later called her to apologize for ruining her award-winning moment.

In 2012, Kanye West basically announced his then-girlfriend Kim Kardashian’s pregnancy by calling her “my baby mama” while on stage in Atlantic City.

In 2013, Kanye lashed out at SiriusXM’s “Sway In The Morning” show host Sway Calloway in response to a question about empowering himself in the face of classism and racism.

“How, Sway!? You ain’t got the answers, Sway! I been doing this more than you! You ain’t been doing the education!

“You don’t have the answers, though, because you tryna give me advice about something… You ain’t spend $13 million a year tryna empower yourself.”

The following year, Kanye’s trademark rant stole the show at the Bonnaroo music festival. His last appearance at the festival was back in 2008. Kanye apparently ended up performing at 4:30 a.m. when he was scheduled to be onstage hours earlier, according to Billboard.

“Last time before I got here they had ‘f**k Kanye’ on the port-a-potties. This time we’re going to piss on them.

“Where the press at? F**k the press!”

Kanye West seemed to have calmed down once he got married and had children with reality star Kim Kardashian, but last weekend’s rant proved that the old Kanye was still in there somewhere.
