‘Fallout 4’ Fans Can Actually Build A Vault On Any Settlement With The New Vault-Tec DLC On Xbox One, PS4, and PC

Following the world’s first glimpse at Fallout 4‘s final three DLC packs at last month’s E3 event, Bethesda isn’t making fans wait long before getting the chance to try out the content for themselves now that two of the showcased expansions have officially launched on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Just weeks after the release of the most recent Fallout 4 add-on, the developer announced today that the Vault-Tec Workshop DLC is now available for download on all platforms.

Like many of the DLC offerings that have been released for Fallout 4, this week’s newest addition gives players plenty of new options for building and decorating their own settlements across the ruins of the Commonwealth. Rather than simply adding a random collection of new set pieces, the Vault-Tec Workshop DLC includes all of the tools that fans will need to create their very own vault dwelling.

“Build a brighter future underground with the all-new Vault-Tec Workshop. Create a massive Vault and attract new Dwellers using pre-war industrial kits complete with retro-nostalgic furniture, lighting, and art. And like every good Overseer, run Vault-Tec approved experiments on your Dwellers to learn what makes an ideal citizen. Vault-Tec has given you the tools, the rest is up to you!”

Users can expect to find more than they expected in the new Fallout 4 DLC. While detailing the game’s latest expansion, Bethesda revealed last week that the Vault-Tec add-on will also be the first Workshop DLC to include a series of quests in addition to its new settlement-building tools.

In the Vault-Tec DLC, Fallout 4 fans are given access to a new underground area in which they can design their own vault home. Wanting to give users the ability to start building as soon as possible, players will be given a large supply of materials upon starting the DLC. The new settlement location is also full of items to scrap in order to gain even more resources. Removing some of the larger debris will even unlock new passages in the vault, giving gamers more room to build.

The new storyline included in the Vault-Tec DLC tasks players with helping the overseer of Vault 88 complete the construction of the shelter so that they can finally conduct the kind of bizarre experiments that Fallout vaults have become infamous for. While these quests are part of the add-on, players aren’t obligated to do them in order to enjoy the new DLC content.

In addition to constructing a proper underground vault in the new interior that was added in the DLC, gamers are also free to use the new workshop items in any of their existing Fallout 4 settlements. This means that fans can create a series of surface-level vaults throughout the wasteland. Players will find dozens of new workshop items added to Fallout 4 as part of the Vault-Tec DLC including walls, furniture, nuclear power sources, and more.

“Once you’ve finished up the questline, you’re also free to spread the Vault-Tec love to your other settlements. Everything you are able to craft in Vault 88 can be used in any other buildable area. You won’t be able to dig underground, but you could build that sky Vault on Spectacle Island you’ve always dreamed about.”

With the launch of the Vault-Tec Workshop DLC, there is only one more Fallout 4 DLC yet to be released. The game’s last expansion will let players travel to the Nuka-World theme park. Beyond the game’s DLC offerings, fans can expect plenty of new Fallout 4 content thanks to the title’s modding community. While official mod support has been released on the PC and Xbox One versions of Fallout 4, PlayStation 4 owners are still waiting for the user-generated content to launch on their console. As the Inquisitr reported last month, Bethesda is currently working with Sony to try to get mods on the PS4 as soon as possible.
