New Nintendo System: NES Mini Game List, Release Date, Pre-Order Details For 2017’s Most Popular Console

Nintendo’s newest system looks to take something of a different approach to other major console releases, with Nintendo releasing a reboot of their classic NES console. The console’s announcement has undeniably caused a good deal of excitement amongst retro game enthusiasts and fans of Nintendo’s classics. Key details around the NES Mini are gradually surfacing, including the console’s full game list, release date and pre-order information.

According to the Daily Star, Nintendo made the announcement around the NES Mini last week, confirming that it will be released ahead of the holiday season on November 11. Nintendo has always seen its best performance over the holiday season, so it’s safe to assume that the NES Mini will perform well for Nintendo this year.

Whilst the NES Mini isn’t expected to be released until November, Nintendo’s new system is already available to pre-order from a number of retailers. The console is set to come bundled with everything gamers need in order to get started with the Mini NES, with a Nintendo spokeswoman saying “The Nintendo Classic Mini: Nintendo Entertainment System comes packaged with an HDMI cable, a USB cable for powering the system, and one Nintendo Classic Mini: NES Controller.”

Nintendo has two clear aims with the release of the NES Mini, the first being to provide older gamers with the opportunity to experience the Nintendo Entertainment System again. On the other hand, Nintendo is hoping that the new system will provide younger gamers with an opportunity to experience the NES’ catalogue for the first time.

As aforementioned, the NES Mini is available to pre-order now from a number of retailers, with a recommended retail price of $59.99 from Nintendo. Alongside pre-orders of the system itself, Nintendo is also offering the ability to purchase an extra controller. Those controllers will be usable with Nintendo’s current Wii U and Wii systems, whilst the NES Mini will also support the Wii’s Classic Controller. The NES Mini is quickly shaping up to be one of Nintendo’s most versatile systems, with support for a range of peripherals, alongside their current Wii U.

Of course, the main attraction of Nintendo’s new NES Mini are the games. Nintendo is promising to bundle a catalogue of 30 classic NES games with the system. That catalogue is set to include some of the biggest franchises in Nintendo’s history, including Super Mario Bros. and The Legend of Zelda. The catalogue also includes some lesser known NES hits, with the full list of NES Mini games including the following:

Balloon Fight
Bubble Bobble
Castlevania
Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest
Donkey Kong
Donkey Kong Jr.
Double Dragon II: The Revenge
Dr. Mario
Excitebike
Final Fantasy
Galaga
Ghosts’N Goblins
Gradius
Ice Climber
Kid Icarus
Kirby’s Adventure
Mario Bros.
Mega Man 2
Metroid
Ninja Gaiden
Pac-Man
Punch-Out!! Featuring Mr. Dream
StarTropics
Super C
Super Mario Bros.
Super Mario Bros. 2
Super Mario Bros. 3
Tecmo Bowl
The Legend of Zelda
Zelda II: The Adventure of Link

However, those looking to expand on the NES Mini’s catalogue of titles are certain to be left disappointed. According to the Next Web, Nintendo’s new system won’t get any new games following launch and with no internet connectivity or cartridge slot, Nintendo isn’t giving players the opportunity to provide their own. For Nintendo, the NES Mini appears to be more of an opportunity to provide fans with a taste of the Japanese gaming giant’s first home console, rather than a complete collection of the console’s software.
