Jessica Reger: Mom Stuffs Kids, Ages 3 And 5, In Corvette Trunk, Goes For A Drive

A Pennsylvania mother was arrested last week after she reportedly stuffed her children, ages three and five, in the trunk of a Corvette before going for a drive with her friend.

According to the criminal complaint, obtained by The Smoking Gun, the police were notified by an eyewitness at approximately 8:40 p.m. on Sunday, July 10. The onlooker noticed two white females, Jessica Marie Reger, 29, and Ilena Gale Blackburn, 28, stuffing two children in the trunk of the vehicle near Reger’s home on 202 Second Avenue. The eyewitness said after the kids were forced into the trunk, the women drove off with the two children locked in the trunk.

The Corvette, which was owned by Blackburn, was red and had the license plate RD HOTT1. After the concerned citizen contacted 911, Officer Andrew Richey was able to locate the vehicle in the 200 block of York Street and pulled the women over. Officer Richey then instructed Blackburn to open her trunk, where the two children, who were only identified as AW and AW, were found. Reger told the officer that they were her kids, but she did not say why they were in the trunk. Thankfully, the children were unharmed, and they were later turned over to a caregiver.

“The credit goes to the concerned citizen who took notice what happened and called 911 and gave detailed information. Our officer was fortunate to be in area, and was able to observe the car and make the stop,” Chief Chad Martin said.

“There were definitely concerns about heat, exhaust fumes and a rear end collision,” Martin added during an interview with the New York Daily News.

It is still unknown as to why the children were placed in the trunk, and Martin said they cannot discuss it because it is a part of an ongoing criminal investigation. Officer Richey did not include a motive in the criminal complaint he filed, but the Corvette they were driving only had two seats. Martin added that the Children & Youth Services agency is now involved in the case.

“It’s part of a criminal investigation,” Martin said. “The kids were okay – it was a matter of four or five blocks when we were able to stop them.”

According to Penn Live, Jessica Reger was arrested on July 10, and she was charged with two counts each of endangering the welfare of children and recklessly endangering another person. Reger, of Hanover, is being held in York County prison on a $2,500 bail. Charges were sent by summons to Ilena Blackburn, of Spring Grove, on July 12. She is being charged with two counts of reckless endangerment and two summary charges of failing to properly restrain children in a vehicle. Her arraignment is scheduled for July 22.

Court records state Reger, who has the words “LESS” and “FEAR” tattooed on her knuckles, was previously arrested for fleeing police, possession of drug paraphernalia, harassment,; retail theft, disorderly conduct, criminal mischief, receiving stolen property, and narcotics distribution.
