Viewers can watch Donald Trump’s April 16 rallies in Syracuse and Watertown live online and see if the GOP front-runner can continue his momentum toward what looks to be a big win on Tuesday.
After a series of losses and campaign missteps, Trump has a chance to right the ship on Tuesday in the New York primary, where he holds a large lead in the polls over John Kasich and Ted Cruz. Trump seems to have a big hold on his home state, and on Saturday he will be making a swing to Upstate voters.
Donald Trump’s first rally will be held in Syracuse starting at 1 p.m. ET. Full streaming video can be found below.
From there, Trump will head up north on Route 81 to Watertown for a rally at 5 p.m. The video of this rally can be found below.
The New York primary couldn’t come at a better time for Donald Trump, who is losing his grip on the Republican nomination as forces from both inside and outside the party converge against him. After Ted Cruz knocked off Trump in the last primary — held last month in Wisconsin — the conservative “Stop Trump” movement has gained steam.
With the help of party insiders and some missteps by Trump’s campaign, Cruz went on to sweep the delegates in the Colorado party convention, and he appears to be building steam on plans to steal the nomination at a contested convention if Trump fails to reach the delegate threshold to win it outright.
Commentary: Why the GOP can't take the nomination from Donald Trump - CBS News https://t.co/OyA6c0MBpW— Bill Mitchell (@mitchellvii) April 16, 2016
Trump has come out hard against the Republican Party for its apparent support of the efforts to steal the nomination, saying the process is “stacked against [him.]” That drew a sharp rebuke from Reince Priebus, chairman of the Republican National Committee.
Nomination process known for a year + beyond. It's the responsibility of the campaigns to understand it. Complaints now? Give us all a break— Reince Priebus (@Reince) April 13, 2016
But there were reports that Trump’s criticism may have made a difference, as the New York Times reported that this week, Priebus privately urged members of the party not to make changes to their states’ presidential nominating processes. The report claimed Priebus is growing increasingly frustrated at Trump’s vocal criticisms, and last week sent a text message to multiple rules committee members “strongly suggesting that they not alter the convention rules when the party convenes next week for its spring meeting in Florida, according to two who received the message.”
“Separately, a group of influential rules committee members held a conference call Thursday to prepare for the meeting and reached a consensus that they would derail any attempt at the gathering to make changes to the how the convention is conducted, according to a committee member on the call.”
Those who watch Donald Trump’s April 16 rallies live online could see a pivotal moment for his campaign. For all the efforts to stop Trump from winning the Republican nomination, he still has a chance to win it outright and avoid a contested convention, and it will start with a big win in New York.
