Colby Dauenhauer, Texas Teen, Rescues Girlfriend And Her Father From Plane Crash


Colby Dauenhauer, 19, is being considered a hero after he pulled his girlfriend and her father to safety following a plane crash that claimed his father’s life.

The crash occurred in rural Wise county, Texas on May 20th, at around 7:30 pm. Colby’s father, Steve Dauenhauer, was piloting the Cessna 210 aircraft when it went down, catching fire, according to NBCDFW.

KSEE-24 reports that the pilot was trying to land on his private air strip near the family’s home in Boyd, but did not make it, instead investigators located the plane crash just short of the grass runway, about halfway from the Dauenhauer’s home.

Although his father did not make it, Colby Dauenhauer was able to pull his 19-year-old girlfriend Breann Jarvis, and her father Jason from the wreckage. they were taken to Parkland Hospital Burn Unit in Dallas for treatment.

KSEE-24 further states that Breann and her father are both in critical condition. Breann has burns on 40 percent of her body, including her legs, feet, hands, and arms, while her father Jason has the most serious burns to the same areas. He is also in critical condition.

NBCDFW reports that the two families were heading home from watching a horse race in Louisiana. They are all residents of the local Springtown community, who is praying to the victims quick recovery. The Springtown Independent School District held a prayer vigil at its stadium, which about 150 students and residents attended. Community members stated that both families are well-known.

Breann Jarvis graduated from Springtown, and is studying at Texas Christian University. Colby Dauenhauer is a current student in the district.
