On Sunday, Donald Trump sat down on Meet the Press with Chuck Todd to flesh out his political views. When asked about Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server while Secretary of State, he said he believes the scandal will ultimately destroy her chances in the 2016 presidential election.
Trump likened Clinton’s email scandal to General David Petraeus sharing classified information to a journalist that he was sleeping with. Trump further believes it would be a miracle for Clinton to run in the first place because of the email scandal.
“I think she may not be able to run — to be honest — because this whole email thing is a horrible thing. General Petraeus, his life has been destroyed, and he did 5 percent of what she did. Assuming she’s able to run, which would be absolutely a miracle at this point, I will beat her.”
Trump has been vocal in his criticism of Clinton’s tenure as Secretary of State and has called her use of private email “criminal” while comparing it to Petraeus’s scandal on CNN, reports Inquisitr.
“The fact is that what she has done is criminal. What she did is far worse than what General Petraeus did and he’s gone down in disgrace. What he did is not as bad as what Hillary Clinton did, and it’s similar. But it’s not as bad. I mean, she got rid of her server, he never did anything like that.”
Trump also told Todd about a famed call he received from former president Bill Clinton.
“Nobody’s been tougher on Hillary Clinton than me. When Bill Clinton called me, I had already made my decision, just so you understand. He called me long after I had made a decision, and everyone knew I was running. I think he’s very disappointed that I’m running. Because I’m the one person who’s going to beat her.”
The Inspector General has announced two of the four classified emails sent by Clinton, which involved drones, are top-secret, reports AP. Yet, Clinton continues to deny sending any emails marked with classified information, attesting that none of the information was classified when handled over her email server, said the presidential candidate in a statement at the Iowa State Fair.
“I’ve said in the past that I used a single account for convenience, obviously this many years later it doesn’t look so convenient. But the facts are the same as they’ve been in the beginning. And most importantly, I’ve never sent classified material on my email or never received any that was marked classified.”
