Coco & Ice-T: Coco Opens Up About Her Surprise Pregnancy After Shocking Announcement

Everyone was pleasantly surprised when Coco and Ice-T announced on television that they were expecting another child. A few years back, the couple chatted with Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb on the Today show about their problems.

During a clip, Coco said to Ice-T, “Some people have a hard time making babies. I don’t know if we’ll have a hard time.” Ice-T then jumped in to say, “Not with me, baby, not with me. You’ll be OK, you’re Fertile Myrtle.”

Fast forward to years later, and the couple revealed that they’re expecting. In the announcement, they included the sex of the baby (a girl) and her name, which is Chanel.

On the heels of the exciting news for the couple, Coco has become the latest celebrity blogger for E! In her first blog post, she revealed all of the emotions she went through while finding out she was expecting at the age of 35.

In the post, Coco intros, “There’s a lot of first-time women out there that are just like me who are freaking out about having babies and having kids and sometimes they wait so long that they don’t have children so I want to set the record clear of what I’m going through so maybe someone can go, ‘Maybe it’s not so bad.’ ”

Coco goes on to write that she always knew that 35 was the perfect age for her to start a family, but societal pressure to start a bit earlier sent her some mixed signals. “Most people say 35 is too old and I should start having them earlier, and I believe your 20s are your wild times. I call it your Spring Break years. And then you move into your 30s and in your 30s, you should come to know what you want out of life.”

She continued, “I always knew that 35 was the magical number. Ten years ago, Ice and I already had a boy and girl name picked out because we knew what we wanted to do with this whole kid thing.”

As stated, the couple left the exciting news for the premiere of their Fox talk show, Ice & Coco. During the announcement, Ice-T seemed proud of Coco, “We’ve been doing all kind of cute dressing to try to shade, but here it is. Look at this thing … how many months?”

Coco revealed, “I am 21 weeks, I’m over five months.”

Coco wrote that she couldn’t believe that she was able to hide her pregnancy for so long. “I’m now five months pregnant. People didn’t know I was pregnant. I was doing photoshoots, I was on tour with Ice in Europe, and people never guessed in a million years that I was pregnant!”
