Florida Man Battered Roommate With Hot Pizza

A Florida man is going viral in media headlines for using a very unorthodox weapon during a heated dispute with his roommate. The Huffington Post reports that Daniel Allen Plunkett used a hot slice of pizza as his weapon of choice during the altercation. Now, he faces at least one misdemeanor charge associated with the incident.

Authorities say the Treasure Island man and his female roommate got into an altercation. The Smoking Gun shares the police report, which details the events that went down on the night of June 3. The report states that 50-year-old Plunkett got into an argument with his roommate over pizza (no clarifications are available on this detail). The argument reportedly took a violent turn when the Florida man allegedly threw pizza at his female roommate.

The police report states that both Plunkett and his roommate had evidence of pizza sauce on their bodies, and both of them allege that that the other threw pizza. It all appears to be a case of he-said-she-said, but a witness who was present sided with the female roommate and told authorities that they were both frightened of the Florida man, who was on felony probation at the time. The details of that particular case aren’t being clarified, but some sources reveal that Plunkett has been busted for driving under the influence of either alcohol or drugs in Pinellas County, Florida.

Fortunately, the woman in this incident didn’t suffer any injuries, which is more than can be said about some folks who have been involved in pizza related incidents. In 2012 a Bronx man poisoned his 5-year-old son’s pizza, killing him because he was upset that his wife had left him. In a similar incident, a Chinese woman poisoned pizza rolls and fed them to kindergarten students, killing two of them. In 2014, police in Massachusetts arrested a man who shoved a hot pizza into a 6-year-old girl’s face. Because the pizza had just come out of a microwave, it caused first- and second-degree burns on the young child. That’s why the police in Chicopee classified the pizza as a “dangerous weapon” during this arrest.

Clearly, this Florida man isn’t alone when it comes to committing alleged crimes with pizza, but will he face justice for his actions? Since he was already on felony probation, it’s safe to say he may run into some problems stemming from this latest incident.
