William Schultz Stabbed Child To Death To See What It Was Like

A child is dead, and a young adult has admitted to killing him. William Schultz has been arrested and charged with the brutal slaying of nine-year-old Jordan Almgren. CBS News reports that the 18-year-old man willingly and openly admitted to committing the horrific murder, and his reasoning is downright shocking.

The teen was reportedly arrested on Sunday after a series of events that are still being pieced together and clarified in the media. What is known is that the nine-year-old boy had been stabbed to death and was pronounced dead at the hospital on Sunday morning before noon.

William Schultz told reporters in a jailhouse interview that he stabbed the nine-year-old boy while he slept because he wanted to see what it felt like to kill someone. He also made other comments about wanting to kill someone before the world came to an end.

“I wanted to see what it was like to take a life before someone tried to take mine.”

Schultz was arrested on Sunday afternoon after he tried to seek treatment for slash wounds at Kaiser Antioch Medical Center. ABC News reports that the man had been under two different mental evaluation holds within the 24 hours that surrounded the lad’s murder. He then got into an altercation with his mother, who threw him out of her home. This is how he ended up in the home of nine-year-old Jordan Almgren. He stayed the night in the boy’s home because he was friends with the child’s older brother.

A memorial is growing in front of the home of Jordan Almgren, as the community of Discovery Bay pull together in support while the child’s loved ones grieve. Meanwhile, the boy’s admitted killer has reportedly expressed regret for what he has done. He expressed that remorse to reporters during a jailhouse interview.

“I wish that I hadn’t. I think about what if that was my little brother. In that sense, I do feel bad. I do have remorse for what I did… But there’s a reason for everything that happens.”

This case is still developing, but it’s being reported that the authorities are looking into the idea that William Schultz may suffer from some kind of mental illness. They probably won’t have very far to look, since he has had a recorded history of mental health problems. If he is certifiably mentally ill, it’s hopeful that the jail system helps him get the help he needs. In the meantime, his remorse won’t bring back the nine-year-old boy who was violently taken from his family.
