A bikini-wearing grandmother behind the wheel of a BMW with her grandson as a passenger was arrested for drunk driving after allegedly slamming into another vehicle at a stop light in Naples, Florida.
Clad only in the skimpy bikini, Patricia Ebel, 49, allegedly failed field sobriety tests at the scene and was taken into custody by Collier County deputies who had smelled a strong odor of alcohol on her person.
She apparently declined officers’ request to take a breathalyzer.
The car accident occurred at the intersection of Goldengate Parkway and Livingston Road, as the woman and her 10-year-old grandson who was reportedly in the back seat of the vehicle were returning home from spending the day at a local swimming pool.
“Her black BMW appeared to be totaled after she slammed into the rear of a car stopped at a traffic light. News footage shows the blond-haired woman in a stripped two-piece attempting to stand on one foot as deputies put her through the paces of sobriety tests,” the New York Daily News reported.

The Daily Mail added that “Ebel was captured on video staggering as she failed all field-sobriety-tests administered by Collier County Sheriff’s Deputies.”
With regard to the field testing, Ebel reportedly told cops that she couldn’t stand on one foot “on a good day,” and also responded “no” when officers asked her if she understood why they were taking her to jail.
No one was harmed in the incident, fortunately, although the luxury black BMW 5-Series vehicle was reportedly totaled. The other motorist in the red Mustang received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries at a local hospital.
“Ebel is facing DUI charges including driving with a.15-or-greater blood alcohol content (BAC) with a minor in the car,” WINK News of Fort Myers explained. She was released on a $3,000 bond and is due back in court on May 13 on the charges related to the alleged drunk driving incident.
“It’s not everyday that you see a story about a grandmother getting arrested for DUI while wearing a bikini,” CBS News Detroit quipped.
