A year ago I really questioned the wisdom of taking Dez Bryant. A year later he gave us half a season of production that seems to indicate he could be a very big star one day. We are also waiting for Sean Lee to develop into a starter in the LB corps. Beyond that this draft class looks pretty weak. I mean these guys only started two games on a team that finished tied for last place in their division. That is not good at all.
A quick look at the 2010 Cowboys draft class:
- Round One- WR Dez Bryant
- Round Two- LB Sean Lee
- Round Four- DB Akwasi Owusu-Ansah
- Round Six- OT Sam Young
- Round Six- DB Jamar Wall
- Round Seven- Sean Lissemore
So Bryant had 45 catches for 561 yards before he broke his ankle. Lee had 32 tackles and two picks in a reserve role. Akwasi averaged 21.7 yards per kickoff return before an injury ended his year. Young went down with a pre season injury and did not play any offensive snaps. Wall was cut in pre season. Lissemore contributed little before an injury ended his season.
Ok, so we see a lot of injuries and that should earn this team a pass for their year two grade. However I do not see much upside in this group. Bryant may be a star one day, and Lee could develop into a starter, but overall this class feels a little weak. Not to mention these players contribute little on what looked like a pretty bad football team.
