The Ohio State Buckeyes will enter the 2010 CFB season as the #2 ranked team. They got the 2010 season off on the right start by putting a 45-7 beat down on Marshall in the opening game of the year. QB Terrelle Pryor must prove that he more than a running QB. He must step up in big games and be more consistent. If he can do that this team has a very good shot at a National Title. On Defense they must find playmakers at safety, or they will be easily beaten by long passes. On a whole this team needs to play more consistently against elite CFB talent.
When I look over their schedule I see three key dates. The first comes September 11th when they get Miami at home. Miami is much improved and OSU needs a win there to be legit BCS contenders. The next key date comes October 16th when the Buckeyes travel to Camp Randall Stadium for a showdown with the Wisconsin Badgers. If OSU wins this game it sets up a showdown with Iowa on November 20th in Iowa. That game could be for the Big Ten title, and a strong BCS bid.
The good news is this team’s next big thing comes at a position of need. Senior Safety Jermale Hines made 57 tackles and picked off a pair of passes as a reserve in 2009. In 2010 he will be a starter and the team needs him to be a force. If he stumbles this team may see a good number of deep passes come firing out of their opponent’s hands as they march towards victory.
