Student-Teacher Sex Scandal: Teacher Faces 22 Years In Prison, Admits Having Sex With Four Students

A married high school math teacher is now facing up to 22 years in prison after openly admitting to having sex with four of her students in her home as well as her SUV, Daily Mail reports.

Last year, the Stafford County Sherriff’s office began hearing rumors and getting anonymous tips about a 28-year-old math teacher, Erica Mesa, at Colonial Forge High School. The tips said that the teacher was engaging in sexual acts with her students.

Investigators took it upon themselves to uncover the truth behind the rumors. When Stafford Detective Sgt. Chris Cameron confronted the high school teacher, Mesa confessed to having sex with two of her students. She was immediately taken into custody on September 29, 2014, for being involved in a student-teacher sex scandal.

On Friday, she openly admitted that she actually had sex with four of her students, not two. The former math teacher gave details about the sexual encounters, claiming she had sex with one of her students in her SUV in the commuter lot on Courthouse Road for the student’s 18th birthday.

Mesa also told investigators that she would have sex her students at home while her husband was away. At one point, she invited all four students to her home and would have sex with each one — one at a time — while the others waited in the basement for their turn.

The ages of the students have not been released. The only information investigators released was the fact that one of Mesa’s students was 16-years-old when the affair started, which was in 2013.

Investigators said that during the confession, she claimed that being with all four of her students made her feel “attractive and wanted.”

After her confession, she pleaded guilty to two counts of “electronic solicitation of a minor and two misdemeanor counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor,” according to the Free Lance-Star.

The reason behind Mesa’s confession stemmed from the fact that she would get a deal. If she confessed, prosecutor Andrea Stewart would drop four charges and two others would be reduced.

“She is not a pedophile,” Defense Attorney Mark Gardner stated. “She was not preying on people who had no interest in participating.”

The Colonial Forge High School math teacher is now facing up to 22 years in prison after confessing to having sex with her students and will now have to register as a sex offender.

Her sentencing will be held on May 21.
