Father Seeks Answers After Infant Daughter Found Raped And Fatally Beaten Inside Orlando Motel Room, Child’s Mother And Her Boyfriend Face Murder Charges

The father of an 18-month-old baby girl, Asiyah Magee, is desperate for answers after learning his daughter was found raped and fatally beaten inside an Orlando motel room.

The child’s mother, 22-year-old Keara Colbert-Davis, and her boyfriend, David Smith, 26, were arrested Monday in connection to the death of 18-month-old Asiyah.

On February 28, Orlando police responded to a call made by Smith about an unresponsive child inside a motel room at Parkwood Inn on 3300 W. Colonial Drive.

Upon police arrival, they discovered the unresponsive child lying naked on the floor.

Paramedics transported the 18-month-old girl to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead an hour later.

Smith was the only one in the motel room with the child during the time of her death.

Residents at the motel spoke to reporters after witnessing the unresponsive child being taken out of the room. One witness, Stetson Robinson, says.

“When I came outside, I saw the officer doing CPR to the baby. It hurt, because I’m a father. When you see stuff like that, it hurts you.”

“Nobody knows the people. They just moved in. Stuff like that should not happen to a baby. You don’t expect things like that to happen to a baby, an innocent child.”

The Parkwood Inn motel manager says he recalls seeing Davis and her daughter – who moved into the motel on Wednesday — walking around the area.

Parkwood Inn resident JoAnne Guastaferri added, “I’ve seen the mother walk back and forth with the baby five times a day. I never saw nobody bring harm to or mistreat that baby.”

Orlando medical examiner determined that the victim died as a result of blunt force trauma to the head and to the abdominal area. She also had bleeding in the brain and rib fractures. It was also concluded that Aisyah had been sexually assaulted.

Investigators immediately became suspicious of the child’s mother and her boyfriend and decided to interview them both. After they were questioned, police say although their stories corroborated with one another, there were a few differences.

Upon further investigation, police discovered that Davis used an app on her phone to communicate with Smith before speaking to the police. The app revealed the two discussing what they would say to police during interrogation — making sure their stories matched.

Orange County police arrested Davis and her boyfriend in connection to the murder of Aisyah Magee.

Police believe that Davis helped cover up the murder when Smith called her at work and informed her that Aisyah wasn’t breathing.

Blood found on Aisyah’s diaper and dress is currently being tested.

DNA samples were taken from Smith to uncover more information about the death of the 18-month-old.

Asiyah’s father, Malik Magee, was devastated after learning of his daughter’s death and wants to know what happened. Magee spoke with reporters and stated as follows.

“When a child’s so young, they’re so precious,” as he wears a T-shirt that said “Daddy’s baby girl” along with his daughter’s picture. “For anyone to do (harm) to a child just doesn’t make sense to me.”

“My daughter was always active. She liked to get into things. When you would catch her, she would look back at you and smile.”

Malik hopes that he will be able to “handle it” when he learns more about what happened to his daughter in that motel room.

The Orlando couple, Davis and her boyfriend, Smith, is facing second-degree murder charges and aggravated child abuse.

They are both being held without bond.
