Brian Scott: Groom Says Touching Vows To New Daughter In Wedding Ceremony [Video]

Groom Brian Scott said special vows he had written himself to his new bride Whitney, and those words alone are enough to bring almost anyone to tears.

Scott, who happens to be a NASCAR driver, relays a story about how Whitney tried to sneak his favorite dessert into a restaurant for his birthday dinner, only to find out, when they arrived, that the restaurant had burned the dessert. But rather than give in, Whitney asked the staff to scrape off the charred parts and stick birthday candles into the burnt mess anyhow.

“I vow to you that no matter what; no matter how messed up things get, I will always be your birthday candles,” Scott tells his new bride. “I promise to go through this crazy life with you, always by your side, and always holding your hand.”

The newlyweds can barely get through their vows to each other, overcome with emotion. Their guests also seem incredibly touched by the obvious love of the new couple, and as the video progresses, their love for each other expands to focus on Whitney’s daughter Brielle, as do their vows.

And then Brian Scott turns to his new stepdaughter and presents her with vows, as well. If his first set of vows didn’t make you cry, the second set will surely do it.

The moment is more than just touching and beautiful. Merging two families can be a difficult undertaking, even for those who mean the best and try the hardest. This special moment between Brian Scott and Brielle marks a new beginning, and signals that he takes his relationship with his stepdaughter and seriously as he takes his relationship with her mother — his new wife.

The vows to Brian Scott’s new stepdaughter begin at about 4:15 in the video embedded below. He crouches down in front on the little girl, who appears to be about three, and takes her hand in his, telling her that he has something to say to her.

“I promise to always hold your hand and skip with you down the street, and bring comfort to your life. I vow to make you say your prayers before you eat and I promise to read you stories at night, to always tuck you in real tight. I vow to show you how a man should treat a woman in my relationship with your mother and, above all else, I vow to protect you, care for you, and love you forever.”
