Police back on JonBenet Ramsey case

The JonBenet Ramsey murder will be investigated as a cold case, Boulder, Colorado police said Monday.

The case, back in 1996 shocked the nation. JonBenet Ramsey was an American child beauty pageant contestant found dead in the basement of her parents’ home in Boulder, Colorado, nearly eight hours after she was reported missing. After several grand jury hearings, the case is still unsolved.

A police spokesman said new technology gives investigators tools they didn’t have back then, and the new investigation would be “reviewing everything that’s been done, the evidence that’s been collected, trying to determine where do we go from here.”

An attorney for JonBenet’s father, John Ramsey, said the move was a “positive sign in terms of my hope that the Boulder Police Department will take not only a new review in terms of a cold case review, but that it will go in this time with an objective review.”
