Talk show host and New York Giants great Michael Strahan had a lucky escape after a homeless, knife-wielding man was arrested for threatening to kill Strahan. According to the New York Daily News, the homeless man wanted to barge into the ABC's studio at Times Square and kill Michael.
The man has been identified as 25-year-old Andre Johnson. According to reports, Andre wanted to be let in to the sets of Good Morning America where Strahan was appearing. He said he wanted to meet Strahan – but was asked to leave the premises by security guards on duty. Andre left the place – but was back within minutes to the same spot, this time with a knife in hand. A security guard attempted to stop him again but this time, Andre went on the offensive and tried to stab the security guard with the knife. Other guards noticed this and within seconds, Andre was pinned to the ground and restrained.
Cops arrived on the scene after which Johnson was taken to the Midtown South stationhouse. Investigators say that Andre had wanted to kill Michael Strahan and that he has admitted to attempting the same. "I was there to kill Michael Strahan," he told them.
Meanwhile, photos taken by an onlooker Keith Booker was sent to The New York Daily News.
Michael Strahan was safe all through the incident and never saw the man and was not hurt. The motive for the attack against Michael Strahan by this young homeless man is still being investigated.
The Inquisitr had earlier reported about Michael Strahan joining the Good Morning America team on a part time basis. He also currently co-hosts the show, "LIVE! With Kelly and Michael."
Meanwhile, TMZ reports that the attacker has been charged with felony attempted assault and menacing and criminal possession of a weapon. He is being held most probably, without bail.
