Randy Travis has been out of the public eye since his life-threatening stroke a year ago, as reported by the Inquisitr on July 9, 2013:
“According to a statement issued by his spokesman, Kirt Webster, Travis, 54, was suffering complications from his ‘recently acquired viral cardiomyopathy.’ Only 10 days previously, country singer Travis had given performances in Chicago and Detroit and was due in Deadwood, South Dakota this week.”
Since then, Randy Travis seems to have made an excellent recovery and he ventured out last weekend to the concert of his friend, Dolly Parton. Travis was photographed looking healthy and happy as he visited with friends at the event.
It all took place after Travis’ fiancee, Mary Beougher, decided to surprise her husband-to-be by taking him to Dolly Partons’ show in Thackerville, Oklahoma. The couple were joined by their friend and fellow country singer, Janie Fricke.
A year ago, things weren’t looking so good for Randy Travis, who had suffered a serious stroke, and underwent a procedure to relieve pressure on his brain.
But over the weekend at the Dolly Parton concert in Oklahoma, Travis walked from his bus to the venue with the assistance of nothing but his cane.
Parton’s publicist, Kirt Webster, spoke to reporters about Travis’ condition, saying: “Randy is doing great and is expected to make a full recovery.”
As well as confirming that Travis enjoyed the show immensely, Webster also confirmed that the country star shed more than one tear during Dolly Partons’ finale song, I Will always Love You. At one point during the show, Dolly Parton gave a special shout-out to Randy Travis, saying to the crowd:
“There are some people you just love and admire for their talents. Tonight, one of those people are here. I actually think he is hiding somewhere way back there or dressed up like Kenny Rogers. But anyway, Randy Travis is here. So wherever you are, I hope you are enjoying the show”
