Caribbean destinations are among some of the most popular trips that travelers choose to take each year, but saying you are going to the “Caribbean” is kind of like saying you are planning to vacation in “Europe.” Sure it’s great, but there are so many places to visit that you need to narrow it down. There are many Caribbean destinations that you can visit. According to US News these five places in the Caribbean are among the top places to visit:
The Cayman Islands is among the most popular Caribbean destinations thanks to the fact that it boasts some of the most gorgeous barrier reefs in the Caribbean. Stingray City is one of the more popular attractions in the Caribbean. Visitors can get up close and personal with stingrays in a safe setting — thought they are unlikely to see any stingray as large as this one.
Some say that Barbados has a bit of a different feel than some of the other Caribbean destinations. A trip here can yield opportunities to relax to the rhythm of calypso music or to take in a rousing polo match. The island also includes beautiful architecture and sandy white beaches. Being the easternmost island of all of the Caribbean destinations, Barbados blends a British and an island culture.
British Virgin Islands
The British Virgin Islands are less overtly British than you might expect. This is one of the more popular Caribbean destinations thanks to the fact that it includes a sprinkling of islands that serve different purposes. While some of the islands are uninhabited, others include beach bars, while still others feature shipwrecks around which you can scuba dive.
Aruba is considered by many to be one of the top Caribbean destinations thanks to the mixture of on-shore and off-shore activities. While the weather is nearly always pleasant, this does not come without risks. The infamous Aruba trade winds can make it seem as if the sun is not as hot as it really is. Because of this, travelers run the risk of being exposed to the sun more directly than they otherwise would be if it felt hotter. Sunblock is your friend.
Thanks to the pristine white shores of the Bahamas, this is one of the most-visited Caribbean destinations. Visitors to the Bahamas will find opportunities for fishing excursions, relaxing in mega resorts and playing golf at par-72 courses.
