Ron Burgundy Reads The News For Real With Amber Schatz [Watch]

Ron Burgundy gave local viewers to a Bismarck KXMD newscast a treat this weekend when he read the news ‘for real’ alongside anchorwoman Amber Schatz.

Burgundy, better known as the star Will Ferrell from Saturday Night Live, is currently promoting his upcoming film, Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, the sequel to his original blockbuster Anchorman movie.

Ferrell, who plays the red-colored, three-piece suit and striped tie newsreader, reads news stories from the teleprompter in his unique eye-blinking style, alongside Schatz.

His fellow KXMD newsreader is a big fan herself of the first Anchorman movie. She said that she has seen the movie around 30 times and found her weekend slot with Burgundy hard, as she was holding back laughter constantly.

Schatz said: “The second he said, `Good evening, I’m Ron Burgundy,’ I lost it,” It was really hard not to laugh.”

Ron Burgundy also flirted a little, jokingly, with Amber Shatz when he looked at her seductively and said: “Amber, you look lovely tonight” just before he asked her if she were married.

After Amber confirmed that she wasn’t, in fact,married, Ferrell said: “Well I am, so don’t get any ideas.”

Don’t be under any illusions though, the whole stunt is part of a bigger social media led marketing campaign for the new movie which even has its own all new Ben & Jerry’s ice cream flavor called “Scotchy Scotch Scotch.”

The whole publicity stunt was a complete surprise – as it was intended to be – to viewers. Schatz said that the station had known about the appearance of Ron Burgundy for a few months but no one knew exactly when he’d appear.

A lot of hype and high expectations are preceding the release of Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues and many people have high hopes that the new movie will be even more hysterical than the first.
