Jim Carrey Is At It Again, Promotes ‘Dumb And Dumber To’ On ‘Today’ Show

Its been 20 years since Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels delighted audiences with the 1994 hit Dumb and Dumber. Rumors have long since percolated around a possible sequel and now, two years after the reunion was announced, the plastic faced funny man is back to his old antics in support of the November 14 release of Dumb and Dumber To.

Carrey made an appearance on Tuesday’s Today show on NBC. Carrey was his usual jovial self as Matt Lauer questioned him on the making of the Dumb and Dumber sequel.

Carrey went on to poke fun at his recent stint hosting Saturday Night Live. When Lauer asked Carrey to talk about something else that had recently happened, Carrey replied, “Ebola?” Lauer quickly pointed to the SNL gig, to which Carrey replied “Well, that’s catching on as well.”

Promotion for Dumb and Dumber To is in full swing, as evidenced by Carrey’s increased presence in the media. Announced in October, 2012 and directed by the Farrelly brothers, the sequel follows Lloyd Christmas (Carrey) as he helps good buddy Harry Dunne (Daniels), find his long lost daughter. The film will feature appearances by Kathleen Turner, Jennifer Lawrence and Rob Riggle, among others.

Carrey and Daniels surfed the wave of movie stardom following the release of Dumb and Dumber in 1994. The original adventures of Lloyd and Harry brought in over $127 million in United States and over $247 million worldwide. In today’s Hollywood, where sequels are announced before the original is ever released, it is hard to imagine how it took 20 years for Carrey and Daniels to don their terrible hair cuts in a return engagement.

Rumors of a sequel swirled for years with Daniel’s always seemingly ready to get started and Carrey holding out for the perfect script. Even though he backed out of proposed projects several times, Carrey always listened to what the Farrellys were pitching. According to the The Huffington Post, Carey felt the sequel was a sure thing.

“I would have thought ‘Dumb and Dumber To’ was a no-brainer, after all it’s implied in the title.”

Peter and Bobby Farrelly were finally able to put together the right script, and now the no brainier has arrived. In three short weeks, Jim Carrey, with his chipped tooth and bowl haircut, will be unleashed upon the world. Will the antics and jokes live up to the original?
