Mariah Carey, Nick Cannon Remain ‘Focused On Family’

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon may not have much to say to one another these days, but apparently they’re not letting a very public divorce get in the way of raising their kids.

From the outside looking in, things don’t look too marvelous in the Carey household. In addition to calling it quits, the singer and the comedian are taking not-so-subtle jabs at one another. While Carey is reportedly changing up lyrics to songs she performs on tour, Cannon is busy covering the enormous Mariah tattoo on his back.

However, Carey and her soon-to-be ex-husband aren’t saying too much about the situation to the press these days. So when Nick Cannon appeared on The Meredith Vieira Show on Friday (October 24), nosey folks were more than a little curious about what he’d say in regards to Mariah. Unfortunately for those who really love celebrity mud-slinging, the America’s Got Talent host decided to take the high road.

In fact, Us Weekly explains that Carey’s former flame didn’t have anything remotely negative to say about the elusive chanteuse. According to the funnyman, he and Carey are trying to their best to remain focused on raising their twins, Moroccan and Monroe.

“It’s truly just staying focused on family and what’s right and getting through these times and just doing what’s right for the kids. They’re just happy. They love mommy, they love daddy. We’ve always been people who are kinda on the go, coming and going, so their life hasn’t changed one bit. We spend holidays together, we do everything that we’re supposed to do together.”

Page Six explains to Nick had a few things to say about all the Mariah Carey-related rumors making the rounds online these days. Before you start telling your friends and family all about the things you read in the latest supermarket tabloid, the Drumline star wants everyone to know that most of that stuff is complete malarkey.

“The media, they can say whatever they want to say and obviously, because you are not giving them anything, so they kind of create all these stories and make it worse than it actually is.”

And those rumors about their dogs? Cannon says don’t believe the hype.

“I heard there’s a family dispute over our eight dogs. It’s the Jack Russell puppy dispute. They just make up all of those things. It’s truly staying focused on family and what’s right and getting through these times and doing what’s right for the kids, so that’s just where we are.”

Although Mariah Carey and her estranged husband probably won’t reconcile anytime soon, that doesn’t mean the world should believe everything that pops out of the rumor mill. Are you surprised that Carey and Cannon remain focused on raising their kids?
