Bindi Irwin: Terri’s Birthday Sparks Praise From Daughter
Bindi Irwin’s mom Terri turned 50 years old over the weekend, and the event sparked some serious praise from her daughter. The teen took to her Instagram page to share a photo of the two and some words that clearly came from her heart.
Irwin called her mom amazing and said she knew her dad was proud of Terri. Bindi added that Terri has always been there for both of her kids and “everyday I think about how blessed I am to have you in my life.”
As The Crocodile Hunter fans know, Bindi’s father Steve Irwin died in 2006 after a stingray accident. The family has stayed heavily involved in the causes Steve believed in regarding animals and conservation. She has received criticism, at times, particularly in her recent support of SeaWorld as she became a Youth Ambassador. It doesn’t seem to bother her much though. Irwin also sparked a lot of conversation when she urged girls to cover up and dress their age. The teen is definitely confident and throwing herself into the spotlight more than she did in the years right after her father’s death.
The family has another big birthday to celebrate this week, as Bindi turns 16. According to the Mail Online, Irwin is planning a party at the Australia Zoo, and it will not be some wild-and-crazy teen affair. The teen has made it clear she has no plans of turning into a rebellious teen, even though it seems some keep waiting to see it happen.
Irwin recently said, via the Courier Mail, “I am excited to prove all of those people wrong that say I am going to rebel and turn into this insane unstoppable teenager.” She added that people expected to see it happen when she turned 15 and it didn’t, and she doesn’t see it happening at the age of 16 either.
What about dating now that she is a full-fledged teen? It doesn’t look like romance is on Bindi’s radar just yet. She says she is “happy just having friends at the moment.” At this point it seems that Irwin is focused on her family, friends, and father’s legacy, and most would say she’s doing a great job. Just a few weeks ago the teen posted a photo of her family from before her father died, and she said people should hug those they love and tell them how much they mean to you.
In an era filled with antics from Miley Cyrus, Kendall and Kylie Jenner, Justin Bieber, Selana Gomez, and the like, many would say that Bindi offers a different, and very inspiring, message. Bindi Irwin’s Terri tribute is just the latest post to showcase this, and some other young women in the public eye could perhaps take note.
