WWE News: Sting Says Seth Rollins Is ‘The Best I’ve Ever Worked With’

Even if Sting never returns to the ring, he will still end his career feeling as if he’s faced the best that the industry has to offer. As previously noted by Inquisitr, the iconic wrestling veteran was seriously hurt at Night of Champions when he received a power bomb from his opponent Seth Rollins. Sting, who is 56-years-old, appeared to collapse immediately following the maneuver and demonstrated considerable difficulty in executing the final moments of the match. He was ultimately defeated by Rollins who retained the WWE title.

After his release from the hospital, Sting spoke to WWE.com regarding his injury. He had nothing but kind words for Seth Rollins, who might well prove to be the man who ended his iconic career. WrestlingINC recently provided a partial transcription of Sting’s comments about his rival.

“After 30 years and working with some of the best and some of the greatest, [Rollins] is, I’m telling you, he’s got to be the best I’ve ever worked with,” Sting advised. “I mean, this guy has it. And I think he’s just scratching the surface on what he will do. I’ve never seen somebody as talented. … I’m just glad I had a chance to work with him. He’s the kind of guy who could be in there with a broomstick and make something very interesting happen, a match that people would love somehow.”

Also in the interview, Sting revealed that Seth Rollins spoke with him in the ambulance before the veteran superstar was transported to the hospital, Sting said that Rollins apologized for the situation, noting that he assured Seth that he wasn’t to blame.

In the hours following the Night of Champions finale, many fans speculated on the nature and severity of Sting’s injury. While WWE confirmed the injury in a statement, in the wrestling world it is often difficult to tell whether such public statements are based in reality or part of active storylines.

In a video post to 1Wrestling on Monday, legendary pro wrestling journalist Bill Apter noted that he had been inundated with questions about Sting’s condition. Apter said that while he could confirm that Sting’s injury was “unequivocally…legit,” he was unable to speak on the precise nature and scope of the medical issues without more details from Sting or Sting’s team.

Bill also read a statement from Sting’s manager, Steve Martinez, confirming that Sting is undergoing treatment for the injury. Martinez originally posted the statement via Sting’s official Facebook account.

“[W]e are optimistic he will have a speedy recovery and return to full health soon,” Martinez said of his client Sting. “Sting has kept his body in excellent shape, due largely to the guidance he’s received from his personal trainer Jeff Cavaliere, and we trust this will prove beneficial to the recovery process.”

Neither Sting, nor WWE have commented on a long-term prognosis at present, making the wrestler’s future in WWE unclear. Sting signed with WWE in late 2014 after working for decades in the company’s rival promotions including TNA and the now-defunct WCW.
