Amid growing speculations over the Donald Trump administration possibly drafting U.S. citizens to prepare ground troops for the war against Iran, Americans wonder whether the president’s son Barron Trump will participate.
If ground troops are to be deployed, many young American men and women will have no option but to sign up for the military, as seen in previous large-scale combats.
There is mounting conjecture online regarding Barron’s possible enlistment in the military. The hashtag #SendBarron has been trending on various social media platforms with several netizens demanding that Trump’s 20-year-old son should not be exempted from enlistment if a draft occurs.
Critics have expressed concern over the “chickenhawk syndrome,” where leaders strongly advocate for war but refrain from being personally involved.

If such a situation were to arise, it would definitely be a matter of grave concern for Melania Trump, who is reportedly quite protective of her son, Barron. Melania has been careful about safeguarding her son from the press’s attention over the years.
According to the Irish Star, she talked about media attention negatively impacting her son in her 2024 memoir, Melania: A Memoir. She said she was concerned about Barron being adversely affected by the press.
The first lady had stated, “More than anything, I was concerned for my son, Barron. He was just a young boy, barely ten years old. I dreaded the prospect of media scrutiny toward him.”
She added, “Our first year in politics only solidified my determination to shield my son from such unwanted attention. I anticipated that if Donald were to win, the media’s scrutiny, deceit, and mistreatment would only escalate.”

According to insiders, Barron has taken an interest in politics. He reportedly helped his father in the 2024 presidential election campaign. One report even suggested that he handpicked which podcasts his father should appear on to appeal to male voters.
During an appearance on Sunday Morning Futures, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt was asked whether the Trump administration was mulling over a possible draft. She didn’t directly answer the question but responded, “President Trump wisely does not remove options off the table.”
She added, “I know a lot of politicians like to do that quickly, but the president as commander in chief wants to continue to assess the success of this military operation. It’s not part of the current plan right now, but again the president wisely keeps his options on the table.”
According to experts, Barron’s towering height may make it difficult for him to fit inside army vehicles. The maximum height limit in the U.S. military is 80 inches or six feet eight inches, and Barron is reportedly six feet nine inches tall. His possible enlistment remains open to debate.
