Indie game developer Michael Johnston has a dream. A dream to play Zelda II: The Adventure of Link as a first-person shooter. Hell, why not? After all, another classic 2D Nintendo franchise made one of the best first-person shooters ever .
Hence, Johnston spent a year giving Zelda II ‘s opening hour a first-person facelift. It’s … a little odd. There are some nice touches here – I especially liked the way the sword animation is one frame long, just like in the 2D games – but it’s probably safe to say Nintendo won’t be unveiling a FPS Zelda next week.
Try Michael’s game yourself here .
