Tiger Woods was also questioned about alcohol use at the scene, telling officers he had consumed “None.”  “I take a few, yes,” he replied.

In one, an officer moved her hand side to side in front of his face while he attempted to follow it without moving his head. In another, he was instructed to touch his nose. After completing the tests—during which he appeared to hiccup several times—Woods was told to stand and face the vehicle before being asked to place his hands behind his back. He was then handcuffed.

“I do believe your normal faculties are impaired and you’re under [the influence of] an unknown substance,” an officer told him. “I’m being arrested?” Woods asked. “Yes, sir,” she responded.

According to an affidavit released Wednesday, Woods was also described as “limping and stumbling” during the evaluation. In earlier bodycam footage recorded at the roadside, he explained how the crash unfolded.

“I looked down at my phone, and all of a sudden… boom!” Woods said, describing how he struck a pressure washer trailer and rolled his Range Rover. Police said he also told them he had been “looking down at his cell phone and changing the radio station” at the time of the crash.

In a statement issued Tuesday, Woods acknowledged the gravity of the situation.
