Sasha-Jay Davies, 19, was the target of a catfish for over four years. She used her photos on social media and dating websites to trick men. Davies stated, “For four years someone else was living a life as me, talking to men as me, while strangers approached me in the street believing they knew me. I reported it over and over and was made to feel like nothing could be done. I stopped feeling safe leaving the house.”
With the help of a team of lawyers, Davies finally got justice as they caught the abuser. Apart from an apology from the catfish, she also won a legal battle at the High Court in London and received a $13, 405 (£10,000) compensation payout.

She confronted the catfish while the legal team requested an apology. When the online abuse started, she was just 16. The accused was identified as Elha-Mai Weston. She made Facebook, Tinder, Snapchat, and other social media accounts. The police were involved; however, it took more than four years and Cohen’s skills to find the abuser.
Davies appeared in an interview with This Morning and shared details of her experience. She relentlessly fought to find her catfish.
She told the host, “So obviously when I was 16, somebody had started making fake accounts of me on social media and dating apps, and ever since then, obviously it really affected my confidence. I struggled to find who it was, and you know I went to the police multiple times and nothing came about, and then I met Yair.”
The lawyer, Yair Cohen, promised to hunt the catfish and did it in just 48 hours. Her mental battle of four years with the catfish ended in two days with Cohen’s help. The lawyer had specific tools to find the URL and digital footprints of the catfish.
He told the host, “It’s like putting together a puzzle with all sorts of bits of information. The team worked very, very hard. We wanted to have it done for Sasha as quickly as possible, and within 48 hours, we had a very, very good lead.”
They added that it was a sense of relief to have found the person responsible. Davies said, “It was just a sense of relief, really, because obviously I never thought that I would ever be able to get any confirmation of who it was because the police said that there was nothing they could do. So, I just felt really stuck. But at that moment when they finally confirmed it, it was just amazing. It was so nice for me to finally be able to relax, you know.”
