If you thought that Samsung came up with revolutionary products when it came to smartphones, wait until you see what they have just unveiled. Tech Times has the news .

“Samsung unveiled its new smart refrigerator at the 2016 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas on Monday as it expands its list of Internet of Things devices.”

The new smartfridge, called the “Family Hub,” is stainless steel and features a large tablet-like 21.5-inch HD touchscreen display. The user is easily able to display the smartfridge’s status, which includes internal temperature, humidity, the outside weather, news, and even a calendar.

According to Engadget , the Family Hub even has a camera, which enables you to view your items in the fridge without having to even open the door. Believe it or not, if you go grocery shopping and forget whether or not you have milk in the fridge, there is a smartphone app that allows you to see your items remotely. There are even stereo speakers on the doors that will allow you to listen to your favorite songs.

You would think that Samsung’s Family Hub would cause a lot of excitement. However, commenters after the article on Engadget are rather snarky.

“Can’t wait to pay the extra money so I can know what’s in my refrigerator while I’m at the concert….where I’m spending most of my time starting into my phone getting unlistenable ‘memories’ because I failed to actually pay attention while I was there. This is a classic example of solutions in search of a problem,” says MHStrawn.

“Embedding technology with a typical 2 year shelf life into a product designed to last decades seems like an awesome way to implement built in obsolescence!” explains DThor.

Luckily, at least for Samsung, commenters on Twitter were more impressed.

There has been no exact price set for the Samsung Family Hub, but one can expect it to cost thousands of dollars. If Samsung could keep the price lower than $3,000, they may have a hit on their hands and a hit is what Samsung really needs now. Despite releasing several new critically-acclaimed smartphones in 2015, none of their products have lived up to sales expectations.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge were released in April of 2015 and both phones, especially the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, were welcomed by critics. Engadgetdescribed both phones as Samsung’s bestin years.

“As if to silence the doubters, Samsung has not one, but two flagships on offer — the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge — and they’re surrounded by questions. Can they restore Samsung to its former glory? Has the company figured out how to build a truly interesting smartphone again?”

Unfortunately, the smartphones didn’t restore Samsung to its former glory. Many Samsung fans were upset that both smartphones resembled the iPhone a little too much, especially since Samsung left off the removable battery and microSD card slot. Many smartphone fans thought that if they wanted to buy an iPhone-like device, they would purchase the iPhone.

Samsung’s Galaxy Note 5 was also well-received by critics and even received four-and-a-half starsfrom CNET.However, the phablet hasn’t made the huge dent in the marketplace that Samsung had hoped. Fans can only hope the new Family Hub smartfridge and the upcoming Galaxy S7 Edge will put Samsung back on top.
