Former American’s Next Top Model contestant, Jennifer An, initiated legal action against rapper Kanye West in 2024, claiming he assaulted her during the shoot of La Roux’s music video in New York in 2010. She reportedly alleged the rapper took control of the set before allegedly “choking” her, rubbing make-up across her face, and sticking his fingers in her mouth to imitate a sexual gesture while cameras were rolling. Most recently, she reflected on the petrifying incident, recalling being “scared” at that point in time.
While speaking on BBC’s Fame Under Fire podcast, Jennifer An recalled the horrifying encounter during La Roux’s hit song, ‘In For The Kill,’ music video, in which Kanye West apparently had a cameo appearance. She remembered going to the Chelsea Hotel, where the 49-year-old rapper also arrived on set, but she was unaware of his presence.
She remembered that the models were standing in the corridor waiting for Kanye West to arrive, who “came through and chose girls to be in the scene with him,” including her. The model said as the music video’s shoot began, West “couldn’t remember his lines,” yelled cut and focused on shooting a different scene.
He then allegedly set up a chair before the camera, before sitting behind it and facing her from outside the frame. An remembered, “I didn’t know what was gonna happen. I was given no direction. I was just told to sit in this chair.”

She continued by recalling that once the music began and cameras were filming, “All of a sudden he just reaches a hand out and starts choking me, and I’m just not sure what’s happening. And then, he pulled his other hand out and started choking me with both hands, and then starts smearing my make-up all over my face and sticking his hands inside of my mouth.”
The model claimed that the way West placed his fingers in her mouth “simulated oral s**,” adding, “feel like he was like trying to touch as much as he could.” She alleged that the rapper smeared makeup on her face “in a way that just felt wrong.” Despite the presence of several people on set, An claimed that no one intervened and “were so still and just there, staring” at her.
When asked if she attempted to stop West, the model admitted, “No, I didn’t because I didn’t know what I was doing… I was more frozen, it’s like ‘I could lose my job’.” She stated that the alleged experience was “scary,” adding that the rapper did not interact with her before, during, or after the shoot.
Meanwhile, Kanye West’s legal team hasn’t denied the confrontation but insisted that it was a part of an “intense and provocative theatrical performance.” They stated that the rapper attempted to emulate a scene inspired by the film American Psycho. Interestingly, the rapper eventually did not appear in the music video but made a guest appearance in the song’s remix.
After the alleged encounter, the model also spoke with La Roux, who apologized for what happened.
