Megyn Kelly slammed teen Karmelo Anthony’s supporters over the protests. The hate-filled protesters after the verdict brought racism into the picture. They argued that it influenced the decision. Kelly called out the people who were blaming the authorities for not giving Anthony a fair trial.

She added, “Let’s be honest, that’s what she’s suggesting that they didn’t give him a fair trial because he’s black and they’re white, which is just so outrageous and unfounded. And that’s straight out of the Dominique Alexander playbook, who is the spokesperson for the Anthony family.”

Anthony sympathizer in the video called it a war that has been going on, and “they never stop being racist.” Megyn Kelly claimed Anthony got what he deserved because he committed murder. According to Kelly, there was a law to dictate the verdict, and they followed facts. The former news host explained that it was a tight process, and the authorities were able to weed out people through the process from making it into the jury.

Anthony was convicted of the murder of fellow schoolmate Austin Metcalf. Anthony fatally stabbed Metcalf in Frisco, Texas, at a track meet at Frisco Independent School District stadium in April 2025. A grand jury indicted him on a first-degree murder charge.

The jury started to debate the sentence on Tuesday, revealing he was found guilty of murder. After a few more hours of deliberation, the jury announced his sentence. Anthony would have been given a lighter sentence if the charges were based on manslaughter, which has a maximum 20-year sentence.

After an argument, Anthony stabbed Metcalf with a pocket knife. Several witnesses explained that Metcalf had pushed Anthony when he went to the tent. They called it a two-handed push while Metcalf asked him to leave. The stabbing was not visible on surveillance footage.

During the verdict announcement, Anthony was seen crying in the court and was overcome with emotion. After the verdict, the protests to support him broke out. Many protesters screamed, “Free Karmelo!” and others blamed racism for the verdict.

The protests got so out of hand that the police had to break them up and even handcuff a protester. There were several Metcalf supporters, and one of them was captured yelling “Guilty! Guilty! Guilty!” after the verdict. Anthony was sentenced to 35 years in prison.

A woman supporting him noted, “Thirty-five years for self-defense! If [Metcalf] were white, we wouldn’t even be here today, it never would’ve had a court, there never would’ve been any handcuffs, we wouldn’t be here today!” She also added that Metcalf died because “somebody didn’t know how to become an adult.”

The protestors also pointed out the lack of any black jurors at the trial. She said, “Tell those white folks, why is a black boy in front of an all-white jury? When has a white boy been in front of an all-black jury? Never!” The jury had Asians, Hispanics, and whites.
