Stories of Meghan Markle meeting Queen Elizabeth for tea last week are all over the internet, and royal watchers are sure that the encounter is another step towards an engagement announcement. But, are reports that the Queen supports a marriage between the actress and her grandson, Prince Harry, made up?

According to Gossip Cop, the monarch is in favor of the relationship between Prince Harry and Markle, but the “exclusive” story Hollywood Life claimed to have about the Queen’s approval was made up. Multiple outlets have reported that Markle, the Prince, and the Queen met for tea at Buckingham Palace in the monarch’s private sitting room, which means the blog’s claim to have exclusivity and a special royal source is fabricated.

Royal authority Richard Kay revealed in the Daily Mail that the couple arrived in a Ford Galaxy station wagon with blacked-out windows for a discreet one-hour appointment with the Queen. Kensington Palace has not commented on the meeting, but it is significant because Harry is currently fifth in line for the throne, which means he must receive his grandmother’s approval to marry.

Vanity Fair reports that the meeting is a strong indication that a royal wedding will be happening in the near future. Markle and Prince Harry have been together for about 15 months, and it seems he is in a hurry to make things official with the Suits actress. It took Harry four years to introduce his ex-girlfriend Chelsy Davy to the Queen (they met at Peter Phillip’s wedding to Autumn Kelly).

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made their first public appearance as a couple at the Invictus Games.

Prince Harry has already introduced Meghan Markle to his dad Charles, Prince of Wales, and his step-mother Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, and they are both reportedly impressed with Harry’s new love.

Royal sources claim that a wedding will take place next summer, in June or July, after Prince William and Kate Middleton welcome their third child. It is speculated that the Duke and Duchess’ baby is due in the spring.

As far as the engagement announcement goes, it is most likely to occur at the beginning of the new year because of other dates to be celebrated by the royal family. Next month, Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary; and in December, the family will travel to Sandringham for Christmas.

Plus, Markle must finish shooting her final season of Suits, which wraps next month and then make the move to Kensington Palace. So, fans will have to wait just a bit longer for the engagement announcement.
