The Posterous team will soon be heading to Twitter.
Tech World reports that Twitter recently acquired the blogging company Posterous and said that nearly all of the company’s employees will be heading to Twitter. What the new team will be working on isn’t clear. Twitter said:
“Today we are welcoming a very talented group from Posterous to Twitter. Posterous engineers, product managers and others will join our teams working on several key initiatives that will make Twitter even better.”
Digital Trends reports that Posterous, similar to its main rival Tumblr, allows users to easily add posts via the internet, email, or mobile app. Twitter said that Posterous Spaces will continue to run normally for the time being. Twitter said in its announcement:
“We’ll give users ample notice if we make any changes to the service.”
Twitter did say that instructions would be given in the next few weeks to show people how to back up their content and how to transfer it to another site.
Posterous was founded in 2008 by Sachin Agarwal. Agarwal, who will be a product manager at Twitter, said:
“The last four years have been an amazing journey…. We look forward to building great things for you over at Twitter… The opportunities in front of Twitter are exciting, and we couldn’t be happier about bringing our team’s expertise to a product that reaches hundreds of millions of users around the globe.”
The financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
Are you a Posterous user? Are you excited that Posterous will be joining Twitter?
