Police officers asked a woman to stop her vehicle after they saw a blue taillight, which is illegal. This was a minor equipment violation; however, it turned into a dangerous situation when the woman took a knife out in front of the officers.
She explained why she took out the knife and refused to drop it. She told the officer, “I just want to take this out because I don’t want you to pull me over again.” She wanted to fix the blue taillight using her knife. He responded, ”What, a knife in your hand on a traffic stop? That’s the easiest way to get shot.”
The woman was put in handcuffs so she couldn’t harm anyone with the knife. Things escalated quickly when the officer asked her about marij*ana smell from her vehicle. She responded that her son smoked, and she didn’t.
Then the officer told her they would search the vehicle. At this point, she got out of control and told him she does not smoke. She responded, “No, my son does. There’s no reason for it to smell like marij*ana because I don’t smoke.”
After that, she asked for a lawyer and wanted to call her father for help. She also added that they should not sell blue lights if that’s not allowed. The officer responded, “Well, they sell a lot of things that are against the law, right?”
While searching the vehicle, the officer was going through different items. The woman demanded that he not go through her purse. She told him he doesn’t have permission to check her things. The officer responded that they had probable cause to search the vehicle legally. She continued to resist arrest and argue with the police officers.
In her opinion, the officers were going to plant something in the vehicle to frame her. Meanwhile, the bodycam video reportedly showed illegal items in her vehicle. They found w**d in the glovebox of the car along with knives, raising a lot of suspicion.
The traffic stop that started with the use of prohibited lights turned into an arrest for dr*g possession. She did not have a medical certificate to carry marij*ana, and her son was also not traveling with her as she tried to blame him.
