A California doctor, 71, was found dead in her Bakersfield home. Identified as Sarwa Aldoori, her body was found in the backyard pool in her residential building located at 1400 block of Pineglen Drive on Tuesday, 30 June.
The cause of her death and the circumstances surrounding her death are still under investigation. Aldoori worked as an OB-GYN surgeon for 35 years at Bella Health and Beauty. She was one of the two doctors at the clinic.
Apart from OB-GYN, she was experienced in cosmetic surgery. However, she ended up in a controversy when she performed a botched plastic surgery on a patient in 2016. The patient died due to a fat embolism after liposuction and tummy tuck surgery.

Fat embolism is a liposuction complication that happens when fat globules enter the bloodstream, blocking the blood vessels. It may also happen in orthopedic and bone surgeries. If the fat embolism enters vital organs, it can lead to death.
The coroner’s office revealed that the 43-year-old who died after surgery had a fat embolism. Moreover, during the surgery, only four sets of vital signs were noted despite the surgery being more than three hours long. The doctors did not even assess fluid input and output, leading to complications.

The case was filed in 2021. Due to this, Aldoori faced disciplinary action from the California Medical Board. She had to surrender her license in March 2024. Aldoori was placed on a seven-year probation earlier, but the board concluded she could not comply with the regulations of probation. The 71-year-old’s probation included completion of education, ethics courses, and record keeping.
According to the state records, the doctor did not have the right training and experience to perform the plastic surgery. BPD did not comment on whether there was any foul play involved in Aldoori’s death, while Bella Health and Beauty did not release a statement after the doctor’s death.
