A Texas police officer responded to a theft call from a distressed bride, Emery Brundy, at a Home Decor superstore. The bride’s handbag was stolen from her shopping cart. Unfortunately, the couple’s wedding rings, IDs, money, and family heirloom were in the bag. She went to check her shopping cart while she purchased some last-minute items. Soon she discovered that her purse was gone.

Lewisville Police Officer Charles Bonar saved the couple’s big day by going out of his way to track the thief. The bride, Emery, explained what happened that day, “This woman switches out the carts, then takes my purse and disappears. Luckily, the amazing officer really saved the day and made it his mission to find our rings.”

Bundy was about to get married to Sam Bundy, but their wedding was about to get ruined without the token of their love. However, Officer Bonar watched the surveillance video from the store and figured out who the thief was. This was a case for the detective unit, but Bonar took it as a personal responsibility to return the stolen items.

Bonar saw a black Audi leaving the parking lot at the same time the handbag was stolen. He ran the plate numbers and found the address of the thief. He told a news outlet, “(I) went to the suspect’s residence, advised her that the victim only wants her property back; if they get their property back, they don’t want to press any charges.”

Bonar recovered the stolen bag without any arrest or threats. He then went to the wedding rehearsal to surprise the couple. When the police officer reached the venue, the bride cried tears of joy. He had the stolen purse in his hand. Everything in the purse, including rings, IDs, phones, and family heirlooms, was recovered.

They were grateful as the bride noted, “We were totally conflicted, but the officer was looking out for us. He called me several times. He was great. We owe a lot to him. He was just amazing.” The bride and groom’s family also noted that the police officer looked like Bundy’s older brother and a little bit like himself, too.

The officer congratulated them, “Congratulations, really happy for you guys, glad it all worked out, and glad I could help.”

After the theft, the couple had to cancel their honeymoon plans as they did not know if they would get the items back. But apart from that, nothing else was impacted, and they were able to make beautiful memories on their grand day.
