On July 22, 2023, a customer dispute over an incorrect pizza at Pizza 9 spiraled into a violent physical altercation. It left a teenage employee injured, resulting in charges of battery and child abuse, police officials confirmed.

The incident unfolded at a local restaurant after a female customer returned to dispute her order. Authorities booked the unnamed woman into custody at the scene, while local police actively generated an arrest warrant for her boyfriend, identified by cops as Christopher Gyos, who fled before units arrived.

The brawl started when the female customer returned to the establishment, claiming her pizza order was incorrect. Restaurant staff informed officers that the order had been placed via “web delivery,” meaning the customer entered the data herself. According to body-worn camera footage of the investigation, the customer admitted to making an initial error but requested a replacement, offering to pay for charges.

The situation deteriorated rapidly when an employee in the kitchen allegedly muttered that the customer was a “liar.” The customer overheard the remark, demanded the worker’s name, and placed a phone call to Gyos to confront the staff.

By the time Gyos arrived at the restaurant, the verbal dispute had erupted into physical violence involving the couple and multiple teenage workers. A 14-year-old female employee told officers at the scene that Gyos grabbed her by the throat and threw her over a table during the melee. Additional bodycamera footage corroborated a secondary physical struggle between the female customer and the same juvenile worker.

The manager noted, “[The husband] ran over here. He grabbed Medeza by the throat and the arm and he threw her over this tables right here on the floor.”

He further noted, “She’s my stepdaughter. I said F**k no, motherf**ker. And I grabbed him from his shirt and I pulled him off and I threw him in the corner right there. And at that time he tried to get me in the headlock punching me and stuff. I punched him. We fought a little bit there. His wife jumped on my back. Medeza pulled her out.”

Responding officers interviewed the restaurant staff, who provided uniform accounts naming the couple as the primary physical aggressors. Law enforcement officials reviewed the initial statements,  confirmed the involvement of minors and immediately placed the female customer under arrest on female customer under arrest on formal charges of battery and child abuse.

“Well, she called her boyfriend, and she told her boyfriend to come over here. After that, we were trying to put her order. We were doing everything to, you know, fix everything. I saw him, and I walked back here, and I’m like, “Who’s that?” This is only my second day,” an employee told the police as seen in the bodycam footage.

She further noted, “I didn’t know if he worked here or what, but when I saw [like] he was walking like that, we’re like, “No, no, you like you can’t be back there.” And then the other guy came when they were fighting back there.”

Police units secured the restaurant premises, issued formal criminal trespass notices against the couple, and requested all internal surveillance video to preserve evidence. Investigators filed initial paperwork to secure an active arrest warrant for Christopher Gyos on identical battery and child abuse.

Gyos remains at large as detectives continue to track his whereabouts.
